This week has been a fairly feeble attempt at house cleaning I have to admit. I'm seeing a build up of the grey stuff all over the floor. Now, true confession, my house cleaning skills are, shall we say, a tiny bit under par.
This week has been torture. Temperatures have soared, qualifying our beautiful Sunshine Coast of BC to be in the midst of yet another heat wave. |
I just filled in an online form, asking for an AC quote from one of the local ones. More on that later.
What else can you do at a time like this? I mean, you can’t even bear to have woolly yarn in your fingers, to do something useful like knitting or crocheting warm blankets (!) for our charity group. That’s out.
Definitely the furniture could do with a dusting. I did think briefly of pulling out the Swiffer duster and giving everything a going over, but other things seemed to take over at the last minute today. Needless to say, my writing again is a part of the problem. But, I am going to try and get down to it after I’ve finished here. Promise.
Cross fingers.
Yesterday was a washout too. I started out with good intentions, but by the time I worked on a bit of writing inspiration that finally arrived, time had sped by.
My friend June called. It seemed Starbucks needed the company of people who like decaf lattes, so I gave a last regretful look at the Swiffer, grabbed a fresh face mask, then joyfully shut the front door, and off we went.
Takes a couple of hours to right the problems of the world over Starbucks lattes. It’s airconditioned. We managed it.
Strangely the only time we discussed house cleaning was to snort at June's efforts to hire a housekeeper--$60 per hour for a couple of young chicks, who didn’t even do a good job. So, she’s in the market for more worthwhile help. I’m thinking this whole thing might work out better if I worked out of here for one day! But only in a place with AC.
Just glanced up from writing here, eyes locked straight on into the fins of the fan. Did you know those things can look like they’ve been covered with volcanic dust particles? It’s a horror story. That’s gonna be fun to clean.
Meantime, I’m still not doing too well here. I know how it should look. I just can’t seem to achieve it! I've tried, really I have. But those lumpy grey corner dust bunnies tell me I’ve failed.
Please, I beg you, comment below to help me get some order into this situation. Right now my only comfort is reassuring myself that a little mess makes a house become a home.
