Ever thought about how the pace of life has changed? How life events, COVID-19 stress and just daily noise in your head has caused you to come to breaking point? How fast food, TV ads and the need to be fast with everything you plan and do make you feel like you’re on a permanent treadmill?
Lots of folks do. To the extent they’re now actively looking for peace and quiet in their lives. It’s a tough order. But because young and innovative folks can always find a high-tech way to help with problems, social media is supplying the need for a tranquil, virtual spot in life. |
Welcome to ASMR videos
It is a feeling, and not everyone does feel it, so it seems to depend upon the person who reports this. Those who experience it relate that it is a very pleasant feeling that starts tingling on the scalp, then moves to the back of the neck, and continues to the upper spine.
ASMR is usually precipitated by stimuli referred to as 'triggers'.[9] ASMR triggers, which are most commonly auditory and visual, may be encountered through the interpersonal interactions of daily life. Additionally, ASMR is often triggered by exposure to specific audio and video. Such media may be specially made with the specific purpose of triggering ASMR or created for other purposes and later discovered to be effective as a trigger of the experience.[1]

- Listening to quiet, repetitive sounds resulting from someone engaging in a mundane task such as turning the pages of a book
- Watching somebody attentively execute a mundane task such as preparing food
- Receiving personal attention, e.g. grooming (makeup application, hair brushing)
- Initiating the stimulus through conscious manipulation without the need for external video or audio triggers
- Listening to tapping, typically nails onto surfaces such as plastic, wood, paper, metal, etc.
- Hand movements, especially on one's face
- Listening to certain types of music
- Listening to a person blow or exhale into a microphone
- Listening to "crinkly" items such as paper, clothes
Just call me behind the times. I can see how it would be soothing enough to listen to an hour or so of rain falling with your eyes closed as you prepare for the adventure of sleep. But seriously, watching or just listening to someone type endlessly would make me wonder if this might be stretching the limits of productive time.
Anyway, technically speaking you can go to YouTube, and type in ASMR videos. Then you see you can actually loop them so they play endlessly. Just got to find one that appeals to you! Then you’re right in with the ASMR folks.
