A while back, I decided to go into the forest near the local salmon hatchery. I wanted to see if the creek there would look different after the heavy rains we've had.
The hatchery is situated in a clearing, surrounded by dense forest. I've been there several times now, and it's always a surprise to suddenly come out of the forest and into this big clearing with all the salmon tanks. |
They had bought him new gumboots because he loves those puddles! And he was wearing them. He started off enjoying the novelty of walking into the puddle and not getting wet. Then that was so interesting that he stamped in the water, sending it spraying around everywhere.
And then, to further investigate, little Davey jumped right in, boots and all! It must have felt incredibly good, judging by the little guy's expression! His happiness shone out to the world. He was saturated.
The water had to be very cold, but nothing could dampen a little boy's delight in his successful investigation. Those gumboots are great for keeping your feet dry in a puddle!
I spoke to his loving, young parents. They live there, right at the salmon hatchery. They see lots of wildlife. They don't worry about TV, you see. They’re just too busy.
Dad knows everything about different fish species. That's what he does, all day, every day--works with them. He loves his job, even though it sometimes means very long days, keeping the fish healthy. He hopes little Davey will be able to enjoy working with them too, once he gets older.
Thanks for reading, and wishing you the best weekend possible.
